Valala Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Valala is an exciting new project from Jean-François Mérieau, one of our favorite producers from the Loire Valley region of Touraine. Thanks to the popularity of Jean-François's amazing wines, the prices have crept up over the years. He created Valala as an affordable entry point to experience his incredible style. What we have carried for years are his estate-grown, organically farmed wines. These are produced using the grapes of a few friends/neighbors and, like his own wines, they do not use pesticides, herbicides, or lab-grown yeasts.

To serve this wine, let it warm a few degrees above refrigerator temperature. It offers an enticing nose of lemon and lime peel, green apple, and quince. On the palate, it is lively and fresh, with a bit of mid-palate richness before the minerality and acidity wrap up the finish. Serve this with brie wrapped in puff pastry, pigs in a blanket, or a cheese board.
