Vajra Langhe Rosso 2023

This wine is Piemonte in a bottle. Each year, the Vajra family creates its Langhe Rosso from a different blend of native grapes, allowing the vintage to determine the final recipe. In 2024, Nebbiolo leads the way at 54%, joined by Dolcetto, Barbera, Freisa, Albarossa, and even small amounts of the obscure and nearly forgotten Slarina and Chatus. The fruit comes from organically farmed vineyards scattered across villages including Barolo, La Morra, Novello and Serralunga d’Alba, with each parcel fermented separately before the final blending. Aging takes place in primarily stainless steel, resulting in a fresh and expressive wine packed with cherry, red currant, wild cranberry, dried herbs, floral spice and silky tannins. Give it a slight chill and it will be your new favorite ‘pizza night’ red.
