Umanu Pinot Noir & Niellucciu 2022

Grape Varieties: 70% Pinot Noir & 30% Niellucciu

The red wine is a blend of almost equal parts Pinot Noir and Niellucciu, which is closely related to Sangiovese. While it sounds like a strange blend, both varieties are relatively light in color and expressive of their surroundings. The combination is surprisingly friendly and will even take a little chill if you are so inclined.

When you open this wine decant it for a few minutes and give it a slight chill. Once you do it offers a bright nose of fresh cherries, dried cranberries, dried orange peel, black licorice, dried oregano and chili peppers. On the palate it is grippy and crunchy, with plenty of fruit and an undertone of slate that frames the fruit into the finish. Serve this wine slightly chilled with lamb kabobs marinated in rosemary, lemon and garlic or swordfish steaks.
