If it’s been a while since you tasted a Mosel white, you owe it to yourself to try this. The Selbachs are one of the region’s most important families, both as elite growers and for their négociant arm, which produces this wine.
This wine comes only from grapes grown in the Kurfürstlay vineyard, mid-slope across the Mosel from the village of Bernkastel. Picked early to retain natural acidity, the nose offers lemon and lime zest, magnolia blossom, and green apple. Despite the Kabinett designation, the wine begins and finishes dry, with a hint of fruit popping out mid-palate for a brief moment. With striking natural acidity it pairs beautifully with Easter ham, and also works well with sushi, Chinese takeout, or almost anything else.
