Salvard Cheverny Blanc 2022

This wine is a what I call a quiet best seller. Unlike the Graville-Lacoste, of which several cases will sell each week, this one moves consistently but at a slower pace. Still, we seem to sell 15-20 cases for the two or three months it appears each summer. The appeal is that for those who find Sancerre a touch too lean, this wine gives you all the flavor but with a bit more body. The reason is that the law for Cheverny requires it to be a blended wine, in this case Sauvignon Blanc with 15% Chardonnay. There is no oak on the wine but the Chardonnay adds a little extra body to the mid palate while retaining the Sauvignon Blanc crunch. On the palate it is gripping to start, then fleshes out in the middle and finishes with great freshness. Drink 2023-2025 with grilled shrimp or a hot goat cheese salad.
