"The wines from Jean-Pierre and Hélène Mucyn, sold in the US under the name Pierre la Grande, are some of my favorite discoveries from our friend Craig Baker. Coincidentally we had just landed a large order of his wines the same week we learned of his passing. Included in the 150 cases are 10 cases of this amazing Crozes-Hermitage, which has been a big customer favorite in previous vintages. Personally I have been putting this wine in my cellar since the 2015 vintage and they never fail to impress with each cork pulled.

2018 is an exceptional vintage in the Northern Rhone Valley and this wine will cellar gloriously for at least a decade. It is 100% Syrah from a vineyard that is 40 years old. The vines are located on a plateau and terraces in the southern section of appellation. In this area the soils are a mix of sand and large, round rocks called “cailloux” so the austere climates produce wines with great concentration." - Tim Varan
