"The vineyards of Touraine stretch outward in either direction from the medieval city of Tours, with a continental climate moderated by the Loire River. By production volume, Touraine is one of France’s largest wine regions, although many of the wines produced within its boundaries will use the names of specific communes such as Vouvray. With a wide array of soil types, and many varieties available for cultivation, it can be difficult to pin down those wines labeled simply “Touraine,” but the Buisse estate bottles theirs from 100% Sauvignon Blanc.

Sauvignon Blanc has its origins in western France, where it commonly appears in both Bordeaux and the Loire. Of note is that the grape buds later in the season, preventing frost damage (a common hazard in the Loire), but ripens relatively early. This enables Sauvignon Blanc to ripen reliably in cool climate regions, even in difficult vintages, making it perfect for the Loire." - JP Donnelly Davis
