Ovum Riesling Memorista 2022

This Riesling is named for John and Ksenija’s memories of great Austrian Rieslings as the original source was from a vineyard planted in basalt soils. Sadly that site was converted to Chardonnay so now they seek out old vines from a mix of ancient sea bottom and volcanic soils. The 2022 is less savory and more piercing, with notes of roasted quince, rose petals, fresh apricots and bosc pears. On the palate it performs more like a classic Middle Mosel, with tight focus and persistent length. Drink 2023-2033 with oysters, grilled sausages or a fondue.
