Mont Gravet GSM 2024

The name Mont Gravet tells you quite a bit about this wine’s origins. “Mont” refers to the gentle, sun-drenched hills of southern France, while “ Gravet” describes the rounded stones scattered across the clay soils, forcing the vines to send their roots deep in search of water. For this classic GSM blend, 40-year-old vines grow near the village of Argeliers in the eastern Languedoc. The blend is almost equal parts Grenache, Syrah and Mourvèdre, with each grape bringing something different to the table: juicy berry fruit from Grenache, structure and spice from Syrah and deeper color and tannin from Mourvèdre. The three are fermented separately in concrete with just the Syrah seeing French oak for five months before blending. The result is ripe and generous, with red and black fruit, clove, pepper, an earthy edge and smooth, silky tannins. Give it a slight chill and bring it to the table with burgers, barbecue, grilled chicken or a hearty bowl of pasta.
