Originally from London, the Cronk family re-located to Provence in 2008 with the dream of making wine. Jeany and Stephen Cronk partnered with Master of Wine Angela Muir to create a business focused on traditional, high-quality rosé, celebrating their first vintage in 2010. Since then, they have expanded their vineyard holdings and now produce a series of rosé wines across Provence, a gin made from grape pomace, and as of 2023 are certified sustainable, moving towards a completely carbon-neutral winery.
Despite being relative newcomers in the world of Provençal wine, the Cronk family work in a decidedly old-school manner. This rosé, their flagship bottling, is a true field blend. In addition to the ubiquitous Grenache and Syrah, this wine incorporates white varieties such as Rolle (the local name for Vermentino) and Ugni Blanc, as well as the rare Tibouren. When you open this wine, you will want to serve it chilled but not ice-cold, around 45-50 degrees Fahrenheit. On the palate this wine delivers notes of freeze-dried strawberry, peach pit, papaya, and white flowers. Drink now through 2026 with seared Ahi tuna, prosciutto-wrapped asparagus, or salad with goat cheese.
