"This Mata family recipe dates back to the 1880s and continues to show us how remarkable Spanish vermouth can be. The Mata family has been exporting wine to the United States since before the prohibition times and Patrick Mata current winemaker and Co Founder of Ole & Obrigado, continues this tradition. Utilizing past generations and through trial and error, out of the 40 different blends this particular one came out on top. This multigenerational winery founded in Malaga, Spain was unfortunately sold back in the 1970s and relocated to Bierzo. The main varietal of this region is Mencia, and that is exactly what you see in this aromatized wine. This vermouth being done in the "French Style", which is just a drier style and spends a minimum of 18 months all blended together, gives us a very concentrated and well integrated style of vermouth."
