La Spinetta’s infamous rhinoceros label may be familiar to fans of the great wines of Piemonte. The winery, founded in the 1960s, was originally dedicated to the production of single-vineyard Moscato d’Asti and would later go on to produce some of the finest examples of Barbaresco. However, this particular bottling comes from their Tuscan property, Casanova della Spinetta, which focuses on a blend of native Tuscan and French varieties.
The Tuscan coast is rich in both sand and limestone soils, perfect for the production of the Vermentino grape. This wine is sourced from multiple vineyard sites within the coastal town of Terricciola, and sees three months on the lees before bottling. When you open this wine it delivers notes of lemon curd, white peach, peach pit, and fresh herbs. Drink now through 2026 with sautéed scallops, shrimp scampi, or grilled snapper.
