Kopp Pinot Noir 2020
Availability: | In stock |
Region: Baden, Germany
Grape Variety: Pinot Noir
In Baden, the Pinot family is called “Burgunder,” a reference to the monks who helped bring these varieties from France. Pinot Noir, also called “Spätburgunder,” has been a staple of the Baden wine industry since its introduction in the Middle Ages and is the region’s most widely-planted grape variety. Johannes owns parcels of Pinot Noir in a number of vineyards throughout the Ortenau, including the warmer Sommerhalde and Sonnenburg sites. Following in the footsteps of its bigger cousins, this Pinot Noir is matured in neutral oak for 24 months before bottling. Notes of tart black cherry, blackcurrant leaf, wild raspberry, and wet leaves make this an excellent introduction to the red wines of Baden. Drink now through 2026 with brisket tacos, grilled sausages with potatoes, or salmon with butter and asparagus.
