These incredible values come from Kerin Auth Bembry (Kiki) and John House (Juan), who founded their import company, La Luz, to recognized the cutting edge wines produced on the Iberian peninsula. For the Kiki & Juan project Kerin found a certified organic vineyard in the obscure Utiel Requena region of southeast Spain. They work with local winemaker Luis Miguel Calleja to craft these wines made from dry farmed, organic grapes; wild yeast fermentations with nothing added except a scant amount of sulfur at bottling for stability. They are also vegan friendly.
The Kiki & Juan Red wine is from a blend of 90% Bobal, 8% Tempranillo and 2% Macabeo, all co-fermented. The initial nose of this wine is a bowl of summer berries; blueberries, black raspberries and blackberries with complex notes of black licorice, tobacco and pine forest.
