This obscure Burgundy designation gives producers the ability to blend other grapes into their traditional Chardonnay and Pinot Noir based wines. For some less reputable producers it is a chance to produce their wines less expensively, but that is not the case here. In this wine superstar Michel Bouzereau blends his nearly 100 year old vine Aligoté with Chardonnay vines that grow outside the Puligny and Meursault appellations. This wine shows fantastic notes of brown butter and pears, with hints of cardamom and coriander. It has the perfect balance of richness and freshness to complement the holiday table.
