Jeff Carrel Les Darons 2021

Dried Cranberry, Dried Red Plum, Rose Petal, Dried Thyme
Our third wine for this week’s feature is Jeff Carrel’s more “traditional” Languedoc red wine, a blend of 75% Grenache and 20% Syrah, with 5% old-vine Carignan filling in the rest. Unlike the estate-grown Villa des Anges, this wine is sourced from two specific sub-regions, La Clape and Corbières. This mixture of climates, altitudes, and soil types serves to bolster the complexity of this wine, making it one of the greatest values in an increasingly popular growing region.
When you open this wine, I strongly suggest decanting for up to half an hour. This wine will pair nicely with baked fish dishes, quiche Lorraine, or roast chicken with asparagus. Drink now through 2024.
