Gonnet Cotes du Rhone Villages Le Hardi 2023

This is the big brother to the top-selling regular Côtes du Rhône Le Raveur. Produced from old vines that grow on a wind-swept plateau, this wine offers a richer texture and more structure. Guillaume calls this his “baby Châteauneuf-du-Pape” and at half the price, a bargain as well. Like more of Guillaume’s reds, this one is 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah. The nose is a rich mix of cooked blackberries, dried plums, and black licorice, touched with the aforementioned garrigue notes of rosemary and thyme. This works nicely with Thanksgiving dinner, but also try with braised short ribs or slow-roasted pork shoulder.
