This wine is made by Fernand and Monique Girard from their vineyards in Chaudoux, northwest of the town of Sancerre. They farm roughly 30 acres of vines but the grapes for the wine comes only from their best site, La Garenne. This parcel is on a steep, southeast facing slope on very rocky, limestone soils. It is these factors that contribute to the laser-like focus and intense minerality of the wine.

This wine offers a nose that is a searing combination of sea foam, fresh squeezed lemon juice, Kaffir lime leaf, pink grapefruit and a whisper of tomato leaf. In the mouth this wine is very clean, with intensely bright fruit and a good sense of acidity that stretches out the finish for some time. Drink over the next two to three years with crab cakes, angel hair with lemon and Parmigiano or oysters on the half shell.
