We are excited to announce the arrival of one of our fastest selling Sancerre we receive each summer from Domaine Girard. This wine is made by Fernand and Monique Girard from their vineyards in Chaudoux, northwest of the town of Sancerre. They farm roughly 30 acres of vines but this wine comes from their best site, La Garanne. This parcel is on a steep, southeast facing slope on very rocky, limestone soils. It is these factors that contribute the laser-like focus and intense minerality to the wine. We are only receiving 120 bottles of this wine this year so get yours while you can. The good news the wine is the same price as last year, despite a 10% tariff and 12% devaluation of the dollar.

It is hard not to like the classic qualities of the 2023 Sancerre. The nose is a searing combination of sea foam, fresh squeezed lemon juice, Kaffir lime leaf, pink grapefruit and a whisper of tomato leaf. In the mouth this wine is very clean, with intensely bright fruit and a good sense of acidity that stretches out the finish for some time. Drink over the next two to three years with crab cakes, angel hair with lemon and Parmigiano or oysters on the half shell.
