fresh blackberries, black currant preserves, pipe tobacco, espresso powder and wet slate

It should come as no surprise that the winemaking team expertly handles Cabernet Sauvignon. They make two of the most sought after, and expensive, versions in the world. This example slides nicely down the middle between earthy Bordeaux and fruity Napa Valley. Heck, for the price you can buy a full case for less than a bottle of Opus One, or a glass of Mouton!

The Cabernet comes from their vineyards in Maipo, with most of the wine aged in French oak barrels, with 30% being new. It shows classic Cabernet markers of fresh blackberries and black currant preserves, pipe tobacco, espresso powder and wet slate. Then it delivers a fairly powerful sense of fruit on the palate, framed by fairly obvious tannins and oak that carry into the finish. While good now this wine will probably age nicely for up to five years, so drink 2023-2028 with braised short ribs or wild mushroom risotto.
