Dievole Chianti Classico Petrignano 2020

The Dievole winery is the oldest in the Chianti Classico region with a history that stretches back to 1090 AD. The current owner, Alejandro Bulgheroni has invested a fortune in the winery, including a hotel and Michelin starred restaurant, creating an amazing jewel in the heart of Tuscany. Today I rank them as one of the elite estates in the region, with a full range of offerings that are stunning from entry to Gran Selezione . This bottling, from a single vineyard site called Petrignano, is a fantastic example of elevated Chianti that punches way above the price. Also, this wine was awarded 3 glasses in the Gambero Rosso guide, one of only 488 wines in all of Italy!

This is a great mid-point between the winery regular bottling and their Novecento, which I featured earlier this year. Built to age a couple of years this wine shows superb concentration but with finesse and lift. 2019 is also a fantastic vintage so drink this wine now or cellar until 2025.
