I have been meeting with several importers over the past few weeks and conversation always seems to land on Sancerre, and how much is available. A couple of years ago there was a shortage due to bad harvests 3 years in a row, and most producers took big price increases. Today the supplies are back to normal but prices are still high, so most of my importers are looking at a warehouse full of Sancerre. No surprise to us, as our customers have been moving to high quality alternatives like Touraine for years. Here is a store favorite that is back in stock with a new, dynamite release.

This wine is everything you want in Sancerre but at half the price. The nose is a mouthwatering mix of pink grapefruit, gooseberry, pomelo and fresh cut grass. It is crisp and dry with a nice little pop of fruit mid palate that gives enough weight to serve with shrimp and scallop crepes, linguine with white clam sauce or oysters on the half shell.
