This wine is made by Maset del Lleó, a company owned by the Massana family, who trace their connection to the land they farm back to 1777. At that time the area was controlled by the Montesserat Abbey and the family paid their tithe in grapes they farmed. In 1917 Josep Massana Carbó produced his Cava for the family and then in 1958 Maset del Lleó was created. Today the family still adhere to the same high standards of their ancestors and only use grapes grown in the Penedes for their production.

For all of their Cava only free run juice is used and bottles are aged on lees in their deep, humid, dimly lit cellar for an average of 24 months. During this time an autolytic process occurs which adds complexity and creaminess to the product. After the aging, bottles are hand-riddled and disgorged to remove the sediments. No dosage is added for this Brut Nature bottling.
