One of the most popular categories in Italy right now are the reds of Mount Etna, made from the Nerello Mascalese. Often described as Italy's Pinot Noir, these are light colored but surprisingly intense wines, with a smokey, mineral quality from growing on an active volcano. This version comes from vines at the lower elevation of the south side, it is a great value for the category.
