"This wine has become one of the top selling items in the store since we first introduced it with the 2013 vintage. Year after year the Rolin family deliver a knock out example of this category, the new release is no exception.
Xavier Rolin the 5th generation of his family to grow grapes on this property but the first to produce wine. Of course winemaking comes naturally to him, being the a cousin to the Perrin family who own Chateau Beaucastel. The family vineyards, almost 70 acres, lie near the village of Berthaude, divided between Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Côtes du Rhône appellations. The vines are old, with several acres older than 100 years, and the average of the entire property around 60 years old.
For their Côtes du Rhône, Rolin uses a blend of 75% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 10% Syrah, vinified and aged in a combination of concrete and stainless steel tanks. When you open this wine, decant it for a half hour and it quickly reveals a sense of dried cherries and fresh blueberries, with the classic notes of garrigue, rosemary, thyme, bay leaf and lavender. On the palate it is nicely dense and rich, with a good sense of fruit with modest tannins and acidity.
