Though predominantly known on the export market for its white wines, the Mâconnais is home to significant plantings of Pinot Noir and Gamay as well. From younger vine parcels planted on clay and limestone, Jean-Christophe produces a Pinot Noir suitable for everyday drinking.

To make this wine, similar in fashion to the Mâcon-Villages detailed above, all fruit is harvested by hand. Once dry, the wine undergoes malolactic conversion and is then racked to neutral oak barrels for 6 months. After this brief aging regimen, the wine is lightly filtered and bottled. When you open this wine, you will want to serve it slightly chilled, around 55-60 degrees Fahrenheit. In addition, similar to the Mâcon-Villages, it will benefit from decanting for at least half an hour before serving. Drink now through 2025 with roast chicken and vegetables, beef stew, or marinated Portobello mushrooms.
