Bees Wax, Dried Apple, Pear Butter, Ginger Snaps

We have been fans of these wines for years, produced in the Pfalz region of Germany. Helmut Darting studied under the legendary Hans Günter Schwarz of Muller-Catoir and also runs one of the top vine nurseries in Germany. This bottling is a couple of years old but is showing amazing complexity, testimony to how brilliant Riesling wines can be. The fruit for this wine is from the Dürkheimer Fronhof vineyard, a moderately steep site with limestone and marl soils. Now with a couple of years in the bottle it is showing complex aromas of bees wax, dried apple, pear butter and ginger snaps. On the palate this wine is dry, with a moderately rich texture and long, polished finish.
